Povzetki - Abstracts

Številka 51-52 revije Phainomena z naslovom Filozofska narečja je  posvečena možnosti filozofskega rekanja, ki je vpeto med to kako v njem spregovarja svet in kako  ga ogovarjamo. Tenzija med obojim  sproža poseben etični problem  filozofskega jezika, ki je sam v svoji rabi neulovljiv. 

The 51-52 issue of Phainomena, titled Philosophical Dialects, is dedicated to the possibility of philosophical expression, situated between the way the world speaks and the way we address it. The tension between the two opens up a special ethical problem of philosophical language, which in usage remains unattainable.

»Cikcak«. Fenomenološka arheologija Edmunda Husserla

Na prvi pogled se psihoanaliza in fenomenologija precej razlikujeta, kolikor zadnja nima nikakršnega koncepta nezavednega, četudi je v svojem opisovanju zavesti analogno strukturirana. Pri tem področje transcendentalne zavesti v fenomenološkem opisovanju korelira s področjem nezavednega, že zato, ker sta obe področji predmet »radikalnega« gibanja razsvetljenstva. Področje uporabe se sicer razlikuje (osvetlitev nezavednega v okviru terapije sledi namenu zdravljenja pacienta, razkritje transcendentalnih struktur zavesti pa, nasprotno, utemeljitvi znanosti), faktično pa, če se ozremo nazaj, sta služili obe vsakič drugemu cilju: s strukturalizmom vstopa psihoanaliza v neko novo paradigmo konstrukcije racionalnosti, fenomenološka metoda pa je v eksistencialni analizi postala individualni instrument analize

»Zigzag«. Phenomenological Archaeology of Edmund Husserl 
 

At a first glance, psychoanalysis and phenomenology seem to differ largely, insofar as the latter possesses no concept of the unconscious, although it is analogously structured in its description of the unconscious. The sphere transcendental consciousness in phenomenological description correlates to the sphere of the unconscious primarily because both spheres are those of a “radical” movement of the Enlightenment. The fields of application do indeed differ (the aim of the explorations of the unconscious within the framework of therapy is patient treatment,  the disclosure of transcendental structures of consciousness at the foundation of science); factically, however, and retrospectively, they serve two different purposes: with structuralism, psychoanalysis enters a new paradigm of the construction of reality, whereas the phenomenological method with its existential analysis became an individual instrument of analysis.

Arheologija biti: telesnost med subjektiviteto in objektiviteto 

Svet percepcije oz. perceptivni svet skrita predpostavka objektivnega sveta znanosti. Percipirane stvari niso – za razliko od objektov – nikoli povsem transparentne. Vedno imajo skrito, nevidno stran, nekakšno senco, ki jih vseskozi spremlja. Če se percepcija odpira proti stvarem, in če pomeni kot taka vračanje k stvarem samim, potem je tisto prvo, na kar naletimo, temeljna plast celote, ki je že oplojena z ireduktibilnim smislom. Percepcija poseduje svojo lastno instinktivno infrastrukturo in superstrukture. Ta smisel seveda nima značaja koncepta, kar z drugimi besedami pomeni, da ne gre za logično, temveč izrazno vrednost. Če smo še bolj natančni: vseskozi je podvržen semantičnim nihanjem, dvoumnostim in nedoločenosti. Neposredno potemtakem ne pomeni trenutnega vtisa oz. impresije, objekta, ki se vzpostavlja le s subjektom, ampak smisel, strukturo, spontano urejenost delov, Gestalt.

Archeology of Being: Corporality between Subjectivity and Objectivity  

If we want to reach the things themselves, we must assert the primacy of perception. Merleau-Ponty’s thesis of the primacy of perception actually asserts the ontological primacy of perceptual world. As for primacy of perception, what it consequently signifies is the fact that it is not something the subject has or does. Perception is not to be conceived of as the activity of the Transcendental Ego, which is – as we know – a product of reflection. We thus get into trouble. In these circumstances, we are confronted with a loss of structural scope within which all metaphysical categories (subject, object, cogito etc.) could operate. We must, finally, assume some kind of a corporeal self, because there wouldn’t be any perception without the adaptation of the body.

Perception is older than reflection, and more primordial. Strictly speaking, perception is pre-personal and therefore we shouldn’t say “I perceive” but “one” perceives in me. At this point, we could detect a certain similarity with language, which is also independent of every subject. As for the subject of perception, it can no longer be thought as bodiless.

»Prevrat kopernikanskega nauka« pri Edmundu Husserlu 

V prispevku se najprej zadržim ob  problematiki zadobitve »naravnega sveta« v fenomenologiji, ki privede do soočenja s kopernikanskim obratom v filozofiji in vzpodbudi t.i.  drugi kopernikanski obrat. Osrednjo pozornost posvečam Husserlovemu tekstu  z arhivsko oznako D 17/1 –22, ki je naslovljen »Temelje raziskave o fenomenološkem izvoru prostorskosti narave«. Husserl  pa je na rob pripisal: „Prevrat kopernikanskega nauka v običajni svetnonazorski interpretaticiji. Pra-barka Zemlja se ne giblje“. Tekst  je bil objavljen leta 1940 v ZDA in ga navaja tudi Merleu Ponty v svoji »Fenomenologiji percepcije« iz leta 1945. Pri analizi teksta zasledujem Husserlovo fenomenološko deskripcijo  Zemlje kot „telesa“ in kot „tal“, ob tem pa tudi fenomenov telesnosti, gibanja, mirovanja ter horizontskega izkustva sveta. Na podlagi tega poskušam pokazati na kako Husserl izkustvo zemeljskosti kot »invariante življenjskega sveta« (Klaus Held) vplete v pogoje možnosti izkustva nasploh. Naposled se zadržim še pri nekaterih avtorjih , na katere je Husserl v tem pogledu neposredno vplival in ki so aktualizirali njegove ugotovitve  ne le  v  filozofskem, pač pa tudi v ekološkem, družbenem in tudi političnem kontekstu.

“The Upturn of Copernican Doctrine” in Edmund Husserl 

The article first tackles the issues of acquiring the “natural world” in phenomenology, which brings about the confrontation with the Copernican Turn in philosophy and the eventuation of the so-called second Copernican turn. The main interest is divested to the Husserl’s text with the archive designation D 17/1-22, titled “Basic Research of the Phenomenological Origin of the Spatiality of Nature”. As Husserl’s marginal note says: “The upturn of Copernican Doctrine in an ordinary world-view interpretation. The original ark Earth does not move.” The text was first published in 1940 in the USA, and  was later cited by Merleau-Ponty in his “Phenomenology of Perception” in 1945. The analysis of the text follows Husserl’s description of the Earth as “body” and as “ground”, as well as the phenomena, such as corporeality, movement, stillness and the horizontal experiencing of the world. On this basis, I shall try to show how Husserl introduces the experience of earthliness as “universal life-world” (Klaus Held) into the conditions of the possibility of experience in general. Finally, attention is paid to certain authors who were, within the given context, under a direct influence of Husserl and who discovered the relevance of his insights not only within the philosophical context, but also within those of ecology, social strata as well as politics.

John Sallis  Eksorbitatna logika

V članku skušam opredeliti vlogo pojma protislovnosti v zgodovini metafizike. Podrobnejši vpogled v Aristotelovo mišljenje o tem pojmu pokaže, v kolikšni meri je načelo neprotislovnosti zakoreninjeno v metafiziki. V nadaljevanju se osredotočam na Kantovo razvijanje transcendentalne logike in Heglovo izenačenje logike z metafiziko. V zaključku razmišljam o možnosti drugačne logike – logike preobilja – onkraj heglovske afirmacije protislovnosti, ki razkriva mejo principa protislovnosti znotraj določenih struktur ali elementov.

John Sallis: Exorbitant Logic 

This paper traces the role that the concept of contradiction plays in the history of metaphysics.  By investigating the way that this concept was taken up by Aristotle, it shows how thoroughly the principle of non-contradiction belongs to metaphysics.  The paper then traces Kant's development of a transcendental logic and Hegel's identification of logic and metaphysics.  The paper explores, finally, the possibility that even beyond Hegelian affirmation of contradiction another logic--an exorbitant logic--can be conceived that exposes the limits of the principle of non-contradiction and accordingly affirms contradiction whithin certain domains of structures or elements

Božidar Kante: Husserl in Ingarden o sliki (podobi) 

V članku obravnavamo Husserlovo teorijo podobe (slike) in jo primerjamo z Ingardnovo. Najprej pokažem, da je Husserlov pristop, ki podobo (sliko) razdeli na tri sloje (sliko, slikovni objekt in slikovni siže), smiseln in razumen. Ingarden Husserlovo teorijo podobe zgolj prevzame in ji ne doda kakih svojih bistvenih prvin. Na koncu članka opozarjam na bistveno pomanjkljivost tako Husserlove kot Ingardnove analize.

Božidar Kante: Husserl and Ingarden on image

The paper considers Husserl's conception of image and then compares it with the view as was developed by Ingarden. I point, from the very beginning, to the reasonabless of Husserl's approach which looks on an image (painting) as basically threelayered item (consisting of  painting as a physical thing, image-object, and image-sujet). Ingarden adopts Husserl's conception of image without any key improvements. At the end of the paper I disclose what is, in my opinion, the main shortcoming of  both phenomenologists, namely that there is essential hiatus between painting as physical bearer and painting as object of aesthetic experience.

Fenomenološke interpretacije Aristotelove kozmologije: O nebu, O nastajanju in minevanju 

Podlaga Aristotelove kozmologije je njegova fizika. Aristotelova fizika stalno prekoračuje svet življenja, a iz vsakodnevnih evidenc išče oporo za nove uvide. Temeljne postavke njegove kozmologije so podane v spisu O nebu: svet je telesen, večen, edinstven, sferičen itn. Je usodno za večino prikazov Aristotelove kozmologije, da "preskočijo" telesnost sveta. To je kasneje povzročilo cel niz nesporazumov glede statusa materije. V teoriji elementov postavi hipotezo, da lahkost nasproti teži ni samo relativno določilo, temveč je zemlja absolutno težka, ogenj pa absolutno lahek. Ta teorija preprečuje izginotje elementov, zlasti pa izginotje elementa Zemlje. Človek je v svet vključen s svojimi čuti: čutilni organi so tako zgrajeni,  tako da kot svoj del vključujejo vse štiri elemente. Svet in Bog sta zadnja obroča, ki obdajata človeka. Razumevanje sveta, ki temelji na poslušanju narave more biti mera sodobne kozmologije in mera pravičnosti.

Phenomenological Interpretations of Aristotle's Cosmology: On the Heavens, On Generation and Corruption 

Aristotle's cosmology is, on the one hand, a synthesis of earlier Greek philosophy and the beginning of physics as a natural science, but on the other hand it has been an epistemological "obstacle" in the process of the formation of modern natural science at times of scientific revolution. Aristotle's royal road to cosmology is his Physics. Aristotle's cosmology in de Caelo has some well-known fundamental "first suppositions": universe is corporeal, eternal, unique, spherical etc. Many interpretations of Aristotle's cosmology omitted the corporeality of the world. This omission was the origin of an entire series of controversies about the principle of matter. Aristotle's hypothesis that light versus heavy is not only a relative determination is very important because it prevents the annihilation of the element of earth. The human being is connected with the everyday environment through his senses. The matter of sense organs consists of all four simple bodies: earth, water, air, and fire. World and God are the last two rings that surround a human being. Listening to nature is the measure of both contemporary cosmology and for our way of being in the world.

Svoboda, ki jo menimo 

Uvodno poglavje je pregled razprav o svobodi spod peresa določenih nevrofiziologov iz Nemčije. V tem okviru lahko pridemo do zaključka, da ni potrebna vrzel v vzročnosti narave, da bi lahko obstajalo nekaj takega kot svoboda. V tem oziru so Libetovi eksperimenti nekonsistentni. Svoboda je v bistvenem smislu prostost od določenosti volje po volji drugega. In svoboda ima enako kot človekova zavest bistveno družbeno formo. To pa še ne pomeni, da lahko podamo oris naravne zgodovine svobode, zgodovine, v kateri bi neizogiben razvoj človeškega bitja in neomejena svoboda gibanja predstavljala bistveni razvojni fazi. Pričujoči članek je tako poskus razumevanja svobode v perspektivi zgodovine evolucije.

The freedom which we mean 

In an introductory chapter I canvass a discussion concerning freedom which has been introduced, in Germany, by certain neurophysiologists. I conclude, with regard to this discussion, that no gap in the causality of nature is required in order for there to be freedom. In this respect, then, the Libet experiments prove inconclusive. Freedom is, essentially, freedom from the determination of one’s will by the will of others. And like human consciousness, freedom has an essentially social form. This, however, does not preclude that we may make a sketch of the natural history of freedom, a history in which the unfettered development of a living being and an uninhibited freedom of movement represent essential stages. This essay makes a case for placing the social and political understanding of freedom in the perspective of the history of evolution.

O etičnem pomenu sojenja

Interpretacija Kantove »razsodne moči« kot etične hermenevtike pri Hannah Arendt

Hannah Arendt v svoji interpretaciji Kantove teorije »razsodne moči«, le-to vzame iz njenega prvotnega sobesedila, razmisleka o dobrem in lepem, ter ji podeli politični pomen. Po eni strani Kantov pojem »reflektirajoče razsodne moči« Arendtovi omogoči prikaz določene nujnosti v politični presoji, za katero je značilno, da se vedno odvija v singularnih okoliščinah in se ne more sklicevati na nobeno vnaprejšnje, univerzalno ali  splošno merilo. Po drugi strani Arendtova interpretira »nezainteresirano ugajanje«, ki je pri Kantu predpostavka za estetsko sodbo, kot nujni pogoj teoretičnega motrenja zgodovine. Pomembni interpreti, kot sta Beiner in Vollrath, so na osnovi tega trdili, da gre za protislovje. V svojem besedilu želim pokazati, da se to protislovje razreši v »hermenevtični etiki«, ki jo je možno pokazati v delih Hannah Arendt, celo v najbolj zgodnjih.

On the Ethical Meaning of Judgment. Interpretation of Kant’s “Power of Judgment” as Ethical Hermeneutics in Hannah Arendt 

Hannah Arendt’s interpretation of Kant’s conception of the »power of judgment« extracts this faculty from its intended context, considerations of the beautiful and of nature, and grants it a political significance. On the one hand, Kant’s conception of a »reflective power of judgment« offers Arendt the possibility of referring to a certain necessity in political judgments; judgments which always take place under singular conditions and which cannot presume a universal or general measure. On the other hand, Arendt interprets »disinterested pleasure«, which is for Kant a presupposition of aesthetic judgment, as a necessary condition for theoretical considerations of history. Between these two aspects of Arendt’s Kant interpretation, important scholars, such as Beiner and Vollrath, have claimed to find a contradiction. In my article I would like to show that this contradiction is dissolved by way of a »hermeneutical ethics«, which can be identified throughout the work of Hannah Arendt, even in its earliest forms.

Optimizen in pesimizem v Gadamerjevi knjigi o Celanu

Pričujoči sestavek skuša ovrednotiti Gadamerjevo knjigo o Celanu glede njenega prispevka k fenomenologiji. Gadamer se zateče k poeziji kot fenomenološkemu orodju zaradi uvida, da fenomenologija ne more biti metoda in da lahko fenomen, bit, dosežemo le prek nenadnega prebliska, z »gnomično prezenco«. Pesnik s »pretresom« trdno uveljavljene kulturne ideje in pogleda na realnost omogoča uvid, da je »normativnost« samo ena omejena perspektiva realnosti in da so drugi vidiki potlačeni. Resnica, ki naj bi prišla na dan prek pesnika, je končna časovna bit človeške eksistence, kar pomeni, da vsaka perspektiva hkrati odkriva in zakriva samo realnost. Težava je v tem, da pesniku ne preostane nič drugega, kot da se zateče k utečeni rabi jezika. Od tu izhajata Celanov pesimizem in dvomi glede možnosti doseganja resnice prek poezije. Gadamer pa je na drugi strani videti optimističen in se drži prepričanja, »prvega načela«, da je fenomen s poezijo mogoče doseči. Tu raste napetost med fenomenologijo kot »nenadnim« dogodkom, eshatologijo in kot metodo.

Optimism and Pessimism in Gadamer’s Celanbook 

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the contribution of Gadamer’s Celanbook to phenomenology. Seeing that phenomenology cannot be a method and the phenomenon, the Being, can be achieved only by a sudden lightening, by “gnomic presence”, Gadamer turns to poetry as the phenomenological means. The poet, by “shaking up” one’s cultural fixed idea and perspective in regarding reality, enables one to see that the “normative” is only one limited perspective of it, while other aspects are being suppressed. The truth, which is supposed to come to light through the poet, is the finite temporal Being of the human existence, which means that each perspective of reality discovers it and covers it at the same time. The problem is that the poet has no better device to do it than the standard usages of language. Here lies the pessimism of Celan, his doubt as to the possibility of achieving truth through poetry. Gadamer, on the other hand, seems to be optimistic and holds to his opinion, to his “first principle”, that the phenomenon can be achieved in poetry. Here lies the tension between the phenomenology as a “sudden” event, as eschatology, and as a method.

Etika neizrekljivega pri Ludwigu Wittgensteinu

Pogosto se domneva, da Wittgenstein o etiki, posledično pa tudi o religiji in estetiki, govori samo z ozirom na njihovo neizrekljivost. Ta članek skuša nasprotno pokazati, da Wittgenstein etično-religioznega diskurza nikakor ne izganja iz smiselne govorice, temveč mu, predvsem v svojih poznih letih, izkazuje globoko spoštovanje. Prvi del članka se osredotoči na razmislek o smiselnosti etično-religioznih stavkov, medtem ko se skuša drugi del v Wittgensteinovo etično-religiozno problematiko poglobiti vsebinsko; seveda z zavestjo, da sta oba dela povezana. V drugem delu, pri obravnavi Wittgensteinovih etično-religioznih prepričanj in concreto, ne moremo mimo njegove osebnosti, ki predstavlja način (poskusa) etičnega življenja. S tem pa se morda hkrati tudi oriše horizont, ki spaja različne načine mišljenja.

The Ethics of the Ineffable in Ludwig Wittgenstein 

It is commonly thought, that Wittgenstein speaks about ethics (and consequently about religion and aesthetics as well) only with regard to their inability to be put to words. This article tries to show au contraire that Wittgenstein not only does not expel ethical and religious discourse out of meaningful language, but in fact shows a great deal of respect for it, especially in his later years. The first part of the article lays emphasis on thoughts about the sense of the ethical and religious propositions while the second part tries to enlighten Wittgenstein’s ethical and religious problematic from the point of view of its content, although keeping in mind that both parts are essentially interwoven. In this second part we cannot but mention Wittgenstein’s personality which represents a way of (attempting how to live a) moral life. With this then we might have sketched a horizon which binds together diverse modes of thinking.

Knjiga Vprašanja življenja (Las Preguntas de la vida, Ariel, Madrid 1999) se postavlja nasproti plitki in zmedeni filozofski literaturi. Iz človeškega fokusa in sodobno se loteva tem, ki so jih motrili ljudje vseh časov in ki bodo vedno aktualne. Savater je daleč od tega, da bi ponujal odgovore, temveč spodbuja nove dvome, naša predpostavljena vedenja postavlja pod vprašaj in že na prvih straneh opozarja, da se filozofije na da učiti, ampak da se lahko samo filozofira. To pa pomeni znati gledati, znati spraševati in znati argumentirati

The book Questions of Life (Las Preguntas de la vida, Ariel, Madrid 1999) is a confrontation with shallow and confused philosophical literature. From the human, and contemporary perspective, it tackles the topics given thought by the people from all times, which remain forever relevant. Savater is far from providing the right answers; rather, he raises new doubts, and questions the presupposed knowledge, warning us from the very beginning that philosophy cannot be taught, but only practiced. This, however, implies the ability of looking, posing the right questions and providing arguments

Derridajev "coup de don" in Heideggrov "es gibt"

Govorica kot dajanje 

Članek poskuša predstaviti, do kakšne mere Heideggerjeva in Derridajeva razlaga dajanja in daru postavljata pod vprašaj moderni antropocentrizem, saj se poskusi ontične opredelitve dajanja in daru izkažejo za nemogoče. Spričo tega prepada vznikne način mišljenja, ki se želi gibati “zunaj” vezanosti na bivajoče. Za dosego tega cilja je potrebno najprej preučiti Derridajevo razumevanje daru in njegove nemožnosti ter s tem zarisati kompleksno problematiko. Drugi del članka pa poskuša umestiti neke vrste predobstoječo obvezo daru znotraj jezika. Da bi razumeli darovanjski značaj jezika in besede, avtor dopolni Derridajeve razlage s Heideggerjevim razumevanjem govorice, ki se radikalno razlikuje od vsake metafizične interpretacije jezika.

Derrida’s “coup de don” and Heidegger’s “es gibt”. Language as Giving 

This paper will attempt to illustrate the degree to which the Heideggerian and Derridian explanations of giving and gift call modern anthrocentrism into question – as attempts to define giving or gift in an ontic framework prove impossible. In the face of this abyss a way of thinking emerges that appears to have settled “outside” the fixation on beings. Toward this end, it is necessary first to examine Derrida’s understanding of gift and its impossibility, thereby charting the complex problematic. The second part of the paper will attempt to locate  
a type of pre-existing obligation of the gift within language. In order to comprehend the gift-character of language and word, we will supplement Derrida’s explanations with Heidegger’s understanding of language, an understanding which differs radically from all metaphysical  
interpretations of language.

Jezikovna kompatibilnost definicij in razumevanja filozofskih terminov v splošnem slovarju 

Razlaga filozofske terminologije v (splošnem) slovarju je zaradi širokega in pogosto abstraktnega pomenskega polja, ki opredeljuje posamezni pojem, izpostavljena dvoumnostim in nenatančnemu opredeljevanju. Razumevanje je proces, ki ima strukturo pogovora. Da bi razumevanje natančneje opredelili, se moramo naprej posvetiti preučevanju jezika, se dotakniti vprašanj o jezikovni rabi,  problemu prevoda, tujkah, spremembah pomena ter ostalih jezikovnih vplivih na razumevanje.

Skozi problem slovarske definicije filozofskih terminov se kaže nezadostnost sistematiziranega definiranja pojmov za izčrpno razumevanje. Glede na prostorsko omejenost geselskega članka v slovarju, ki izključuje kontekst, se izpostavlja pomembnost etimološkega vpogleda v besedo, ki odpira kulturnozgodovinski horizont in v slovarski strukturi predstavlja razširjeno pomensko polje.

Language Compatibility of Definitions and Understanding of Philosophical Terms in the General Dictionary. Pocket Dictionary of Short Explanations of Philosophical Terms 

Interpretation of philosophical terminology in a dictionary (of general language) is exposed to ambiguities and to inexact semantic determination, primarily due to the vast and usually abstract semantic field of the term. Comprehension is basically a dialogue structured process; thus its accurate determination needs some preliminary language research. Basic questions in the text concern linguistic usage, translation problems, foreign words, semantic changes and other linguistic influences on comprehension.

The problem of dictionary structured definition of philosophical terms shows deficiency of a systematic defining of concepts for exhaustive and precise comprehension. With regard to limited space, dictionary entries don't include much context, which exposes the importance of etymological insight into the word. This insight opens a cultural-historical horizon and represents an extended semantic field in a rigid dictionary structure.
